Oh. My. Gah. Sony Pictures just released the brand new trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, named after the legendary comic book series that spawned every other Spidey series and spin-off.
No, it’s not one of those silly 10 second teasers. It’s not a slideshow of movie stills playing over a Train song. This is a legitimate, 2 minute and 30 seconds trailer.
At first, I was very apprehensive about the Lizard being the villain this time around. I wasn’t sure how well a giant reptile in purple pants and a lab coat would translate to the big screen….but I’m feeling rully good about it after watching this preview.
This installment of Peter Parker’s story seems darker and better-rooted in the comic books. As much as I love MJ, the previous three movies did not do the story of Gwen Stacy any justice. Her impact on Peter’s life is tremendous and deserves more than just “the other woman” vying for emo Toby Maguire’s affection.
Emma Stone looks great and Andrew Garfield looks like he was born to play Peter.
Ok. I’m going to stop geeking out and let you see for yourselves. Maybe your reaction will be similar to mine:
